





Moving Guide
Below you will find some helpful advice to make sure your relocation goes as smoothly as it possibly can. Dont forget that you can also contact us for friendly help and advice regarding your move!
3 - 4 weeks before your move
- Contact mobile phone companies, telephone, cable, satellite and internet service providers and notify them of your change of address and the date
you are moving
- Start packing / de-cluttering if you are doing it yourselves
- Have your car serviced
- Notify your bank or building society, credit card companies and store card providers
- Notify your child's existing school that they will be leaving and then contact
their new school
- Contact all relative insurance providers
- If you are moving away from your local area contact your doctors, dentists
and opticians then re-register in your new area
- Notify your local council in both your current area and your new area that
you are moving with regards to council tax
1 - 2 weeks before your move
- Contact TV licensing and notify them that you are moving
- Notify all utility providers
3 days before your move
- Pack a large bag with useful items that you may need on the day of your removal, for example a first aid kit, nappies, tea bags, knives and forks, candles, torch etc
- If there is any dismantling of furniture you should have pre-arranged this
with your move co-ordinator. If you are doing it yourselves then please
make sure that you keep all screws and fixings in a safe place.
- Make sure that you have arranged to have all appliances disconnected
by a professional
- Pack your jewellery and important documents in a safe place, remember
to take them with you and keep them secure on removal day
1 day before your move
- Park your car outside your house in readiness for the removal vehicle to
arrive tomorrow or arrange with the local authorities to have bays suspended
Moving Day
- Make sure you leave the kettle out and be prepared to make tea for the removal men as moving house is exhausting work
- Before the removal crew set off for your new destination make sure you
have checked the house thoroughly to make sure nothing has been left
